More Refresh and Peanuts

We spent the week continuing our refresh of a couple of apartments; new desks, office chairs, dressers, rugs, shower heads, hanging mirrors and whiteboards, new trash cans and the like.  A few weeks back we painted the second story of the APs apartment and this week we spent a couple of days painting the bottom floor.  The APs were traveling the entire week so it was a good time to do that.

Filing out the week we spent a day or so in the office doing paperwork, ordering supplies, et.  With only a couple of months left on our mission and a new mission president coming right after we leave, we feel an urgency to have all computer and paper files up to date and all documentation done.  By the time we leave we hope to all have all moves we want to do completed and most apartments refreshed (best we can).

The invitation by the Quinn's at Zone Conference to purge all apartments of clutter paid off.  Many reported taking bags and bags of trash out of their apartments.  On Monday after our regular mission wide zoom call, the Quinn's selected a couple of companionships to have them take the entire mission on a tour of their apartments.  They were both very clean and we were impressed.  The next day we went to dinner with the Quinn's at an awesome BBQ place in Petaluma where they told us many missionaries had sent them pictures of cleaning.  It was a huge success.  ðŸ˜€

As reported previously, we rarely take a true P-day as we are always busy.  Yesterday we both felt we needed to have at least a half day of fun (Saturday is P-day for us office couples).  So after a morning of errands we went to the Charles M. Schultz museum here in Santa Rosa.  We both grew up on Charlie Brown and the Peanuts characters so we thought that would be fun.  While we had a nice time, neither one of us thought the museum was as wow as we anticipated; perhaps our expectations were too high.  We had a good time just having a day off together.  That was our refresh.

Today at church a member of our ward, Brent Mortensen, came up to us and said he had another quilt for us.  He has given us three other quilts that his grandmother made.  The quilts are old and awesome!  We offered compensation for them but he insisted that we just take them.  He would not even accept a dinner invitation.  We asked him if he would write up a short history of his grandma and he said he would be delighted.  These are quilts we will treasure in our family for a long time. Wonderful mementos of our mission.

Below is a link to the video we commissioned our mission tech Sisters (Sisters Brimhall and Mitchell) to produce for us for new missionary orientation and zone conference. The missionaries loved it!

We hope you can access it. :)
