Four in Two and Ten in Seventeen in Six
First, a fond farewell to Elder and Sister Nate who served the past 18 months as mission finance and secretary, respectively. Their last official act was to help prepare and serve breakfast to the incoming missionaries on Wednesday. They left for home that evening. We will miss them terribly!
So about the title of this week's blog - it has been a whirlwind of activity! Four apartment moves in the past two days and ten moves in the past seventeen days taking place in six different cities. We are looking at three more moves (possibly four) in the next couple of weeks. With all those moves comes cleaning, dump runs, taking old items to Deseret Industries, ordering supplies, runs to Costco and Target, signing leases and entering all the information into the computer. In the midst of all that we had to deal with the logistics that comes from transfers. Why all the moves?
- One due to rats
- One due to threats by neighbors
- Two due to lack of parking
- Three due to senior couples leaving or transferred
- One due to small size of apartment and economics
- One to place the Elders inside their teaching area
- One due to being too big to keep clean
The upcoming moves:
- One due to no cell service (safety issue)
- One to make the above move economical (combine missionaries)
- One senior couple leaving
- One possibly to place in a better location within their teaching area
Each day is long, we are tired, and our heads are spinning to keep it all straight, but the Lord is with us and we have plenty of help from the missionaries both young and senior. We have seen lots of miracles along the way that confirm to us that this is the Lord's work.

Elder Power - Elders Welling, Wilson, Bracken and Young
Elder Young plays football and is one of the strongest people we know.
He would carry heavy furniture by himself up flights of stairs

Of course we always have time to visit with the missionaries as they give us strength. They are so good and wonderful! We love them!!
Looking out over the next few months, we have only one new senior couple coming into the mission (next week); no one else. If things don't change, by the time we leave end of May we will have gone from twelve existing couples down to only five with most of them leaving by September. With so many new missions opened up, senior couples are in short supply. So our plea is that those senior couples able to serve please consider doing so. Our experience has been wonderful. There are many mission opportunities to choose from (locations and assignments) and you can choose the length of service (6 months, 12 months, 18 months or 23 months). Senior couples have a great deal of flexibility in schedule, travel, etc. We have traveled home on a couple of occasions and have had family come stay with us.
