Hard to Say Goodbye
Before jumping into the events of last week, a special invitation to serve a mission. Our eyes have been opened to the vital importance of senior missionaries. With so many new missions opening up the need for senior missionaries is even greater today. You can serve in so many different ways and the church has made it very flexible. If you can serve, we invite you to do so. Don't wait, just have faith and do it. We absolutely love our experience serving!
We spent a great deal of time in the office this week due to transfers. Saying goodbye to missionaries who have completed their mission is extremely bittersweet - we are excited for them but also sad to see them go. We get so attached to them as if they were our own grandchildren. There are tears and hugs. We are also overjoyed to meet the missionaries coming in new to the mission. They are so excited to be finally in the mission field and we instantly fall in love with them.
Yesterday (Saturday) was our ward Christmas party at the Foothill Park Ward. The theme was Mexican and we were served enchiladas, tamales, rice and beans. The time and effort involved in preparing the decorations, food and entertaining was amazing. We had a good time visiting with people.
This evening we attended an open house at the mission home. President & Sister Quinn invited their neighbors to come and visit to get to know them and each other. The Quinn's invited the office couples to come to help provide food and support. The Quinn's were worried no one would show up. Well, about 25 of their neighbors did and it was a wonderful evening. The main purpose was to simply be neighborly and answer any questions they may have. In all, it was a success.
