Work and Dinners

We spent the entire week running around as usual looking for new apartments, helping missionaries fix stuff, vacating an old apartment, buying things for the missionaries and catching up on office work...you know, the usual.  We are thinking quite a bit lately on missionary safety.  We made sure each companionship has a sufficient "go bag" and now plan to procure flashlights for everyone so they can keep them by their beds.

We also have been supplying large pictures of Christ for every apartment.  Most apartments have images of the Savior and temples, etc, but many are small and old.  We ordered several copies from Salt Lake of the same picture that hangs in the mission office.  The missionaries found out about this and a few have already requested a copy.

On Friday we had dinner with the Elders assigned to the ward we attend in Healdsburg.  We ate at a restaurant in Windsor who features a burger we wrote about previously.  The Elders love it because it's huge.  It's called the "I Love Animals" burger featuring beef, chicken, bbq pork and bacon with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and onion rings.  It's massive.  One of the missionaries, Elder Griguhn (pronounced Reagan with a G in front) said he could eat two.  We dared him.  We were amazed (and disturbed) to watch him polish off both.  The restaurant owners and staff came over to congratulate him saying they have never seen anything like it.  We forget how much these Elders can eat.

Elder Anglin

While at dinner we asked Elder Whitman, who is new, whether he is being teased or pranked by his companions.  They all looked at each other and started laughing and Elder Whitman, shaking his head,  said, "I don't know what is real or not."  Poor Elder.  That answered our question.

On Saturday some of the senior missionaries gathered for our monthly birthday celebration.  For those of us in the office, we regularly see each other but for those serving as MLS missionaries or residing in far away zones, gathering is a treat.

From L to R: Ritchie, Nate, Frodsham, Quinn, Wilson, Cawley and Sitton (seated)

Had to include a photo of our youngest granddaughter, Robyn, who went to her first friend birthday party.  She was very excited and had a great time.  Robyn turns 4 on the 22nd.
