Baptisms, Redwoods and Birthday Visitor

This is not from our mission but is our oldest grandson, Elder Lewis Morley, who is serving in Columbia.  We thought this was an amazing picture.  He is doing so well and is very happy serving the Lord.  We also love and pray for our niece, Sister Masino, serving in Washington State and our nephew, Elder Larkins, serving in Japan.  It's wonderful to all be serving at the same time.  Ours is a family of serving the Lord for which we are grateful.  As mentioned previously, we have already well surpassed our mission goal for the year and the pace of baptisms continues here and around the world.  We are so grateful that so many are joining the church and receiving saving ordinances.  Truly the Lord is hastening His work.  We see miracles

The highlight of this week was a trip to Armstrong State Park to walk among the Redwoods.  We had a nice lunch at Page's Diner (really good BBQ bacon cheeseburger and onion rings), and then a walk through the park.  We are simply amazed at the magnificence of the redwood trees.  Armstrong park is about a 40 minute drive northwest of Santa Rosa.  The drive itself is beautiful through vineyards, farms and forests.  The trails in the park are well maintained and an easy stroll.  The weather was perfect.  We felt the spirit as we walked quietly among the Lord's amazing creations.  As things slow down a bit, we look forward to doing more outings.

We had to take this picture in the park parking lot.

Sister Quinn had family come into town including her 91 year old mother, Daryl Hoole, who shared with us copies of her book, 'The Art of Aging Joyfully'.  She told us her life history and that of her husband.  Pictured is Sister Cawley and Sister Nate, Mission Secretary, with Daryl Hoyle.

On Friday we held a birthday lunch for Sister Ritchie our mission nurse

During the lunch we had a surprise visitor - a homeless man walked in.  We offered him something to eat but, unfortunately, he was clearly schizophrenic and he left just as abruptly as he came

These are the scriptures of one of the young Elders in our mission - we were highly impressed how organized and marked they were
