101 and Ukiah
This past week we traveled several times up the 101 to Ukiah where we continued setting up a townhome for a newly arriving Senior Couple. The Miller's from South Weber, Utah arrived today (Sunday). As we traveled the 101 (which we do almost every day) we think of President Nelson turning 101 this coming Tuesday. We read his Time Magazine article which reminded us that he truly is a prophet of God and knows exactly the kind of guidance need in today's world. In our office we decorated his portrait in his honor.
A prophet guides on which way to go
We love serving the Lord and His missionaries! We do not mind at all the long days. Time goes by quickly when you are busy doing something you love for people you love. We typically leave the house around 9 am and return home around 9 pm. This coming week we have two more Senior Couple apartments to furnish and set up; after that we think things will calm down and hours will be normal (whatever that means). Since arriving in the mission field we have only had one day off not counting Sundays. On Monday we shopped all day for Labor Day sales on furniture and other items. We did meet up with Elder and Sister Ritchie in St. Helena at a burger place called Gotts Roadside. Sister Ritchie is the mission nurse and Elder Ritchie serves in a ward as an MLS missionary. They are wonderful people from Idaho Falls.
Needless to say most of the week was spent buying furniture and household goods then setting up the Ukiah townhome. To save money we bought a combination of assembled and unassembled furniture. Elder Cawley discovered that putting together the furniture took three times as long as he thought. In the end, however, we were pleased with the result. Our companionship works out perfectly; Sister Cawley shops and decorates and Elder Cawley carries heavy things around and puts them together. We did suffer some injuries together, back, shoulder, arms and elbows, but things are getting better and the Lord continues to bless us beyond our abilities for which we are extremely grateful.
