Brothers & Sisters in Arms
Our second and final week in the MTC was focused on our assignment as housing coordinators; learning the systems, policies and practices that we will employ in the mission field. Our class consisted mainly of the couples from our district plus Sister Thompson. As mentioned in the previous post, the Thompson's are headed to Houston and we were assigned to mentor each other. Since the Thompson's don't really know what tasks they will do yet in their mission, they decided to split up with Elder Thompson learning finance and Sister Thompson in the housing coordination class. Our instructors (Brother Mason in the morning and Brother Hayes and Sister Hales in the afternoon) were all fantastic. At the end of the week we gave them each a gift card to Crumbl Cookies.
We would start each morning all together (all classes) for a hymn, prayer, spiritual thought and then go over the agenda for the day. We would do the same after lunch. After the devotionals we would split up into our various classes. For the most part we would stay in the room but at times we would go outside for instruction or a 'special assignment'. One of those assignments was to simply find young missionaries and engage with them. This we enjoyed very much and was a welcomed break from class study. One group of missionaries could only speak to us in German (which was their assignment) so the conversation was super fun.
We both enjoyed our experience at the MTC very much. The spirit is strong there, the energy high and the organization is everything you would expect from the church. The artwork all around campus is amazing. Here is another sample:
