We are official missionaries!!
First of all we want to thank all our family, friends and ward family for all your love and support. You strengthen us!!
Yesterday we spoke in our ward's Sacrament meeting with the added treat of having our 13 year old (almost 14) grandson Jake speak with us! It was his first time speaking in Sacrament meeting and he did a fantastic job. He spoke clearly and delivered a great message on accomplishing hard things. Our hearts melted when he spoke about coming to live with us and how that helped him get through hard times. We love him and all our 13 grandchildren so much. Oh, and, of course, our children and their spouses too. :)
We were humbled to see so many friends come to hear us speak; some who traveled quite a distance. Our family and other dear friends in California joined us via Zoom.
Heidi spoke on faith, love and unity comparing those principles to the Redwoods. Martin spoke on faith and the atonement of Jesus Christ. One story we shared was when Heidi purchased posters for our home four years ago that depicted places we have been to and love. One poster, however, was of a place we had not been to - the California Redwoods. Heidi did not know why she purchased that particular poster - now we know! Coincidence? We think not!

After church we gathered at our home with family and friends. At 4 pm we gathered at the stake center to be set apart by President Beckwith. We are now full-time missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!! We are soooo excited. We join the ranks of thousands of missionaries throughout the world spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Among them are our grandson Lewis serving in the Columbia Bogota South Mission, our beautiful niece Colette serving in the Washington Yakima Mission and our nephew Timmy serving in the Japan Sapporo Mission. This morning we start our journey at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. Here we go!!
